5 Tips for Voting in the 2020 Election

YOUR VOTE IS YOUR VOICE!

Overwhelmed with how to go about registering and voting? Don’t fret any longer. I will give you 5 tips to voting in this election.

1. Register to Vote

You need to register to vote. You will register with the state you reside in. However, if you’re military you will register for an a absentee ballot for your Home of Record (HOR).

***Make sure to follow ALL directions listed on the sites to register to vote.

2. Do Your Research on the Candidates (FACT CHECK)

You can find out who is running for President and some guidance here. Instead of listening to the news or your friend spew about who they’re voting for, do your own research. Make sure to check for facts related to the candidates from reliable sources (news articles are opinion based and not a reliable source).

3. Know What You’re Looking for in a Candidate

Once you’ve researched your candidates. Know exactly what you’re looking for in a President. Do you want someone who lowers taxes or raises them? Do you want someone who is pro or against abortion? Do you want someone who wants universal healthcare or not? Do you want to someone who speaks openly about global warming and how to prevent it or someone who doesn’t believe in global warming? Check out the issues and what each candidate propose they’ll do for those issues.

Make sure you KNOW what you want from your President. This is your choice and you need to research and know the facts!

4. Watch the Debates & Do NOT Allow Anyone to Bully You

Despite the first debate with President Trump and Joe Biden being more about name calling then an actual debate, I suggest you watch the debates. Debates are for candidates to verbally tell you how they’re going to work during the next four years. Make sure to check the debates out. (I listed the when, where, & how to watch)

DO NOT BE BULLIED. I say it loudly because many people are losing family and friends because of this voting season. You are allowed to have different views than others. Others will bully you into thinking their candidate is better than yours. Don’t allow the negativity determine who you vote for. Again, by following tip 2&3 you’ll figure out who YOU want to vote for.
